A training course to become a first aid representative was organised on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 June 2019 at our premises. About ten of our employees volunteered to participate, like Jean-Luc, project manager in the Industrialization Technical Department: “I asked to become involved in this training because I think everyone should be trained in first aid.”

The trainer began these two days with a round table discussion so that all participants could introduce themselves and express their reasons for attending the training. He then reminded us of the main objective of the training: to acquire the knowledge necessary to prevent accidents in the workplace and know how to correctly perform first-aid actions designed to preserve the physical integrity of a victim, while waiting for help. Studious and attentive, our trainees first attended theoretical courses on the legal framework, the assimilation of the First-Aid Reps. intervention plan (analyse, protect, examine, alert), the understanding of many terms, and awareness of the number of accidents in companies through key figures (626,227 work accidents with lost time occurred in 2016!) Then came the moment our trainees had been waiting for: practice! In pairs, the participants practised many first aid techniques: stopping bleeding, placing the victim in a lateral safety position (PLS), performing cardiac massage, controlling a burn and what to do during a choking incident.  ” I learned a lot of things I didn’t know. It was a really good experience,” said Armony, a sales assistant. Finally, the trainer closed the learning with real-life situations to test the knowledge learned throughout the training session. In turn, each played the role of the First Aid Representative, the victim or even the witness!

After these two emotionally charged days, each of our volunteers left with their first-aid certificate ready to prevent any risk at work or to take action if necessary. AXYON now has an army of super first aiders!

We would like to thank our trainer, who proved to be really great !

Congratulations to all, and thank you for your participation, enthusiasm and commitment!
